How long does a shoot last?
Typically, a shoot runs 4-5 hours. If you’re really a go-getter, you can upgrade to an 8-hour session which gives us more time to travel around to get the extra unique photos (think rockclimbing, boating, skydiving, paddleboarding, etc.). Some of these can be accomplished during a 4-5 hour session, but we have to choose to optimize our time.
How many people will be at the shoot?
It’s just you and the photographer. No film crew, large lights, reflectors, etc. The goal is to be as casual as possible to make you feel comfortable.
What about social shots?
We’ve found that our clients will do just fine without the social shots, or many use one they’ve taken in the past. You’re totally welcome to have a friend come out during the session to get a few of these shots. Otherwise, clients have offered to buy a round of drinks for people at a bar in exchange for a photo.
What is the turnaround time for the edited photos?
Typically a week to 10 days.
Do you ever have issues shooting in public places?
It’s rare to have a complaint at a bar, cafe, or hotel. It occasionally happens, but we can easily pivot to another location if it does. It’s common to think that everyone is staring and judging the subject of the photos, but honestly, no one really cares. They don’t know why you’re getting your photos done, and if anything, they think you’re an important person.
What time will my session start?
It depends if you booked a morning or afternoon shoot. Afternoon shoots start four hours before sunset to capture most of the shots, then a few with the evening vibe. Morning shoots usually start at 9 or 10am.
I’ve read all the material on this site. Is there anything else I can do to prep?
Nerves are the enemy of natural facial expressions. Nearly everyone we’ve shot with ends the shoot saying, “That was a lot more fun than I thought a photoshoot would be.” It will be really casual, no one is looking at you, and the photos will turn out better than any photo you’ve seen of yourself—so don’t worry too much! If you have any questions before the shoot, don’t hesitate to ask! We’re here for you.
